…Denies involvement of Atiku, Obi, Amaechi, el-Rufa’i in ADA
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has dismissed the possibility of forming a new political party before the 2027 general elections, citing limited time and logistical challenges.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday, Lawal confirmed that the emerging anti-Tinubu coalition, which includes former APC members and prominent politicians, will instead merge with an existing party. “We’ve settled on a party that’s legally sound and open to new leadership. We’re finalising key appointments”, he said.
He denied any link between top politicians like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, and Nasir el-Rufai and the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) being promoted by Dr. Usman Arɗo. According to Lawal, Ardo is “name-dropping without consent”.
Lawal stressed that the oalition is focused on realism, noting that registering and stabilizing a new party before the elections is impractical. He also suggested that growing discontent within the PDP, especially under Nyesom Wike’s influence, could drive more members to their new political front.
“Many of us are joining as individuals. This is a fresh, independent platform offering Nigerians a real alternative in 2027”, he added.
